Accessory Bag for Knitting
My knitting accessory bag is approximately 7″ by 8″ and holds everything from stitch markers to sticky notes. Whenever I’m knitting, this special goody bag is always by my side. I could not knit without it!
Below is a list of the suggestions for a well-appointed knitting accessory bag. While you may not need exactly what I’ve listed, I find it supports my ability to concentrate at the task at hand, and immensely adds to my knitting enjoyment.
- Knit gauge – “Knit-Check” by Susan Bates is my recommendation for checking gauge and needle size.
- Measuring tape
- Small, sharp-pointed scissors
- Pocket size calculator
- Stitch markers
- Several sizes of sewing needles – yarn needles, large darning needles
- Small crochet hook – for picking up dropped stitches
- Sticky notes – for keeping track of rows or patterns
- Pen with highlighter
- Extra sets of needles in the size you use most (mine are sock needles)
- Yarn bobbins
- Point protectors, various sizes
- Small magnifying glass – plastic or glass
- Cable needle or small double point
- Tell me your suggestions!

I also carry a couple of the hard plastic square do-dads that tie up bread bags. They work great for wrapping the tail end so I don’t accidentally knit that when I work on my socks!

Dawn, Excellent idea! Great remedy for small gauge fibers. I will definitely try it. Thanks!

Hi Denise,
Hope all is well with you and family.
This spring, when I finally got around to visiting the store, I was very surprised to see you’d closed it down.
Are you just selling online now?
Still haven’t finished that modular block vest. Getting close though…I may need another skein of the blue. It’s packed away among my boxes of ‘stuff’ I brought with to MN for the summer. When I find it, I’ll send you the details, in case you still have a skein.
Will miss coming over to the shop to buy yarn, visit and get new patterns.
